Psalm 100:4
(NKJV) 4Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts
with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
“Enter into
His gates with thanksgiving.” The term
“enter” here is to go in by a direct line.
The challenge was to enter the temple or tabernacle directly with
thanksgiving, with a direct confession of thankfulness. This individual would be speaking words of
personal praise.
The courts
were the outer area of the temple or tabernacle where there would be public
assembly for worship. The Israelites
were being commanded here to be bringing praise. They were to be speaking positive words of
excellence about their God, words that would cause others to wonder. As men would express these praises extoling
the Heavenly Father by making public confession of His attributes and acts of
power they would be expressing their thankfulness.
When they
blessed God they extoled Him for His greatness and goodness; this was part of the command.
Please
notice, these worshipers only had access to the courtyard it was the priest who
would get to go directly through the veil into the Holy of Holies.
Today those
of us who have repented of our sin trusting in the blood of Christ to cleanse
us of our sin have access directly to the Father because Jesus has now given us
direct access to the Mercy Seat where the blood of atonement was applied. That offering that represented the covering
of our sins.
Hebrews
10:10–22 (NKJV) 10By that will we have been sanctified through the
offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11And every
priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices,
which can never take away sins. 12But this Man, after He had offered
one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13from
that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14For by
one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. 15But
the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, 16“This
is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their
hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” 17then He adds,
“Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” 18Now
where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin. 19Therefore,
brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20by a new and living way which He
consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21and
having a High Priest over the house of God,
22let us draw near with a true heart in
full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience
and our bodies washed with pure water.
I trust you
will understand the privilege we have because of Jesus Christ and “boldly”
enter with thanksgiving. (Heb. 4:16)
